Bent Run Falls is a cascade-style roadside waterfall located in the Allegheny National Forest, just off Route 59.


If navigating by GPS, you’ll find the parking area next to the falls located at coordinates 41.83528, -78.9965.

From the sign at the back of the parking area, bear right down the embankment to the base of the falls.

While there is a trail that continues uphill along Bent Run, the falls themselves are located right next to the parking lot.

In fact, the best view of Bent Run Falls is had by standing on top of the culvert which passes under Route 59.

From here you have a view of all the cascades that make up Bent Run Falls.

You can also get an up-close look at smaller sections of the falls by walking (carefully) upstream.

Bent Run Falls is right across the road from the famous Kinzua Dam.

Be sure to check out the overlooks on the opposite side of Route 59 that offer views of both the dam and the Allegheny Reservoir created by the dam.

Completed in 1965, the main purpose of Kinzua Dam was flood control on the Allegheny River, but it also provides for hydroelectric power production.

The Allegheny Reservoir is 27 miles long, 14 miles in Pennsylvania and 13 miles in New York, with 91 miles of shoreline, and a maximum depth of 130 feet.
