The hike to Kildoo Falls as I describe it here covers roughly 0.5 miles, or 1 mile out-and-back.

I set out from the Kildoo Picnic Area (GPS coordinates 40.95206, -80.16835), eager to explore a trail that follows the scenic corridor of Slippery Rock Creek.

From the parking area, I made my way onto the trail (a series of switchbacks and stairs) that begins behind the picnic area restroom and gradually descends through the woods towards the historic McConnells Mill and Slippery Rock Creek below.

Along the way, signs remind hikers to stay on the trail because the rocks along Slippery Rock Creek can be slick and dangerous.

Continue down the trail for approximately a quarter-mile, until you reach the footbridge pictured below.

When you finally reached the waterfall (GPS coordinates 40.95001, -80.17041), you’ll be greeted by a beautiful cascade spilling over a broad sandstone ledge beneath a road bridge above.

One of the highlights of visiting Kildoo Falls is that you can actually walk behind the waterfall, standing beneath the rock overhang while the water drops in a graceful curtain in front of you.
