What You’ll See at Penn Roosevelt State Park

Penn Roosevelt State Park was built during the Great Depression by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp S-62, one of only twelve segregated African-American CCC camps in Pennsylvania.

The legacy of Camp S-62 lives on at the park, reminding visitors of the vital contributions these men made to conservation and public lands in the state.

The young men at this camp built many of the roads and trails visitors use today, as well as a log-crib dam that still forms the park’s small 3.5-acre lake.
