Whether you’re a serious foodie or merely a casual connoisseur of fried dough delicacies, Oram’s Donuts is one spot in western Pennsylvania you need to check out!
Oram’s Donuts in Beaver Falls, 31 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, is consistently ranked as one of the best donut shops in Pennsylvania.
In fact, Food and Wine Magazine singled out Oram’s as having THE best donuts in Pennsylvania in their 50 state round-up of the best donuts across America in 2021.
Not wanting to simply take someone else’s word for it, I found myself near Beaver Falls recently and decided to made a “research trip” to Oram’s to see and taste what all the fuss was about.
After extensively “sampling” a one-dozen assortment of Oram’s donuts, I have to agree with the experts – these things are AMAZING!
According to Oram’s website, their cinnamon roll donut is their best-selling donut, and after trying one I can see why.
In the name of “investigative journalism”, I also tried the crème-filled, raspberry-filled, custard-filled, glazed, and cake donuts.
The verdict – this is as close to “donut heaven” as you’re likely to get in Pennsylvania!
Visiting Oram’s Donuts
Oram’s Donuts is located just minutes south of the Beaver Falls exit of the PA Turnpike.
Oram’s is located in a picturesque old building at 1406 7th Avenue Beaver Falls, PA 15010; there’s plenty of free street parking in front of the shop.
Oram’s has a decidedly “vintage” look inside, which only adds to the feeling that your getting some old-fashioned goodness with every order.
But for all the “old-school” vibes, Oram’s offers the surprisingly modern option of preordering your donuts online and simply picking them up in-store (that’s what I did, and it was a very quick and convenient).
According to the Oram’s website, the biggest difference between them and other donut shops is “the secret old-fashioned recipe that has been used by Oram’s for decades”.
After sampling a variety of their delicious creations, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Oram’s Donuts in Beaver Falls has perfected the art of making donuts!
