What You’ll See at the American Treasure Tour Museum
As you begin your visit, you’ll start with the self-guided walking tour, where you can explore the “Music Box” and “Classic Car” exhibits at your own pace.
The Music Box exhibit features a fascinating collection of vintage music boxes, player pianos, and other mechanical musical instruments, each one more intricate than the last.
You’ll also find an eclectic array of novelty telephones that would have been the envy of any 80s or 90s kid.
Vintage radios, dolls and dollhouses, and music and movie memorabilia also can be found in the Music Box section of the museum.
Moving on to the Classic Car exhibit, you’ll be greeted by rows of vintage automobiles, showcasing the elegance and craftsmanship of bygone eras.
These cars are surrounded by memorabilia, including old signs and advertising pieces that transport you back in time.
As in the Music Box room, you’ll also find seemingly out-of-place but fascinating items in the Classic Car exhibit, like this beautiful collection of uranium glass, glowing eerily under blacklight.
The Tram Ride Through the Museum
The next part of your tour takes you aboard a slow-moving tram that guides you through the museum’s 75,000 square foot “Toy Box.”
The tram moves VERY slowly, allowing plenty of time for photos.
This section is an overwhelming sensory experience, filled with vibrant displays and a pre-recorded narration that explains what you are seeing.
As you pass though the Toy Box, you’ll spot items like this towering Ronald McDonald figure from the iconic PlayPlace.
One eye-catching display is this collection of life-sized Simpsons family figures seated on a park bench.
Another favorite of mine is a complete Chuck-E-Cheese animatronic band display.
The Halloween-themed section, complete with vintage masks and decorations, brings out the playful side of the holiday.
As you glide through the museum, you’ll pass by an old-fashioned popcorn-making robot next to an R2-D2 Pepsi cooler, a mix of retro and sci-fi that sums up the museum’s eclectic vibe.
The tour also includes a remarkable display of vintage Christmas decorations, with Santa Clauses, Christmas trees, and festive dolls creating a year-round winter wonderland.
The entire tram ride experience is well thought out, and the narration adds valuable context to the visit.
After the tram ride, you can go back and explore more of the Music Box and Classic Car exhibit at your own pace.
