East Branch Falls is a wonderful 25-foot tall waterfall on the East Branch of Mill Creek in the Loyalsock State Forest.
Located approximately 4 miles west of Hillsgrove in Sullivan County, East Branch Falls is what I would call an almost-roadside waterfall, located just 50 yards or so off of Walker Road, a State Forest road.
Getting There
How to Find East Branch Falls in the Loyalsock State Forest
- From Hillsgrove, turn off of Route 87 and travel west on Mill Creek Road (a dirt road) for approximately 4 miles.
At intersection with Bear Wallow Road Road (GPS coordinates 41.48127, -76.74790), turn right on Bear Wallow Road and then immediately left on Walker Road.
- Follow Walker Road 0.8 miles to an obvious but unmarked parking area on left (stream) side of the road.
GPS coordinates for East Branch Falls parking area are 41.49100, -76.75208.
- Hike down the hill from the parking area approximately 50 yards to reach the top of East Branch Falls.
- Carefully follow an obvious footpath downstream to reach the bottom of East Branch Falls.
Exploring East Branch Falls
East Branch Falls seems to knife its way through a wall of solid rock.
There is really no bad angle to view East Branch Falls from.
Its ease of access makes East Branch Falls one of the prettiest almost-roadside waterfalls in all of PA.
The cascades above it are equally picturesque.
The relentless power of water to reshape these rocks along the East Branch of Mill Creek is remarkable.
