I spent most of the day on October 6, 2022 looking for the best fall foliage views in Tioga County.
My day started in Wellsboro, where I took a quick lap around downtown near The Green, a public park featuring several statues, historical monuments, and a fountain.
Across the street from The Green, there was vibrant color to be observed near the Tioga County Courthouse.
Just about everywhere I looked, the leaves were changing and the scenery was outstanding.
From downtown Wellsboro, I made my way to the eastern rim of the PA Grand Canyon at Leonard Harrison State Park.
I arrived at the park in time to see the last of the morning fog burning off above Pine Creek.
The foliage in the PA Grand Canyon is still several days away from peak, but that certainly took nothing away from the views.
I made the short hike out to Otter View, which offers a south-facing view of the Pine Creek Gorge.
Leonard Harrison State Park is always beautiful, but even more so in October.
From Leonard Harrison State Park, I made the short drive to the opposite side of the PA Grand Canyon.
I first stopped off at the Barbour Rock Trail in the Tioga State Forest, where the foliage seemed more vibrant than the eastern side of the canyon.
Barbour Rock and several nearby unnamed overlooks were bathed in the morning sunlight.
From here I drove on to Colton Point State Park, which offers some of my favorite views of the PA Grand Canyon, especially in October.
If you’re headed to Tioga County this weekend, you can expect to find foliage nearing it’s peak in some places and still a few days away in others, but all in all a perfect time to visit the PA Grand Canyon and nearby places like Wellsboro.
