I spent most of the day on October 5, 2022 looking for the best fall foliage views in Potter County.
I drove up scenic Route 44, AKA the “Highway to the Stars”, stopping off at vistas and parks along the way.
One of my first stops in Potter County was Ole Bull State Park.
Here the fall foliage was amazing – the entire picnic area was a sea of gold.
The footbridge over Kettle Creek was another postcard-perfect scene.
Castle Vista looked great as well, just a short walk from the parking area near the picnic area.
Further north, I stopped off at Boone Run Vista, one of several roadside overlooks I visited on this trip.
I eventually made it to Route 6 and headed east to the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum.
Since the weather was so nice, I spent the majority of my time here touring the outdoor exhibits.
The reflections off the sawmill pond were incredible!
The sawmill itself also looked nice against a backdrop of color on the mountains in the background.
My last stop of the day was Denton Hill State Park, directly across Route 6 from the Lumber Museum, where the abandoned ski slopes were awash with color.
So if you’re headed to Potter County later this week or weekend, you can expect excellent fall foliage views as the area is already peaking or right on the cusp.
